The objectives of this innovative course for teachers are
- To develop teachers' awareness of language patterns in English- To develop teachers' awareness of how to analyse language for teaching purposes
- To help teachers anticipate problems in language for teaching purposes
- To help teachers incorporate the teaching of pronunciation into their teaching
- To help teachers teach grammar, vocabulary and social English creatively
- To help develop learners' confidence in using language inside and outside the classroom
- To develop teachers' awareness of the language of influence to improve classroom management
- To help teachers exploit metaphors and stories for teaching purposes
The sessions will follow a workshop format and be interactive, fun, extremely practical and of immediate classroom application. Teachers will also have the unique opportunity to consolidate and develop their own language skills (learning about the mechanics of advanced English grammar, phrasal/multi-word verbs, different types of vocabulary, metaphors, similes, social English etc). as well as get a greater awareness of up to date pedagogical approaches to this all important area.
This teacher development course focuses on the Phonological system of English. It will provide participants with a useful review of the essential concepts and a unique opportunity to take their understanding to a deeper level. Furthermore, it will give those interested in incorporating phonology into the classroom a wide range of useful practical classroom activities.
